Cookie Policy
What cookies are, which ones this website uses and how you can control them.
Last updated: 6 October 2026
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your computer or mobile device when you visit it. They are widely used to make websites work, to keep them secure and to provide information to site owners. Similar technologies, such as local storage and pixels, work in comparable ways; in this policy we refer to all of them as "cookies".
2. Our approach
Asian EFL Journal is designed to be privacy-friendly. The Website does not use advertising cookies, cross-site tracking or social media tracking pixels, and we do not run third-party analytics that profile individual visitors.
Under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR), cookies that are strictly necessary to provide a service you have requested — including those that keep a website secure — do not require consent. These are the only cookies that may be set when you use the Website, which is why we do not show a cookie consent banner. If we ever introduce non-essential cookies, we will ask for your consent before setting them and update this policy.
3. Cookies we use
The following cookies may be set by our hosting and security provider:
| Cookie | Provider | Purpose | Type | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
__cf_bm | Cloudflare (hosting & security) | Distinguishes humans from automated bots to protect the Website from abuse. | Strictly necessary | 30 minutes |
cf_clearance | Cloudflare (hosting & security) | Set only if you complete a security check; records that the check was passed. | Strictly necessary | Up to 1 year |
4. Third-party services
Pages on the Website load typefaces from Google Fonts and images from our content storage provider. These services do not set cookies through the Website, but they receive standard technical information, such as your IP address and browser type, in order to deliver the files to your device. Please see our Privacy Policy for more information.
If you follow a link from the Website to another site, that site may set its own cookies. We have no control over these, so please check the cookie policy of the site you are visiting.
5. Managing cookies
You can choose to block or delete cookies using your browser settings. Most browsers let you refuse all cookies, accept only first-party cookies or delete cookies when you close the browser. Guidance is available from your browser provider:
Blocking strictly necessary cookies will not stop you reading the Website, but you may occasionally be asked to complete a security check. For independent guidance on cookies, visit the ICO's cookie pages.
6. Changes to this policy
We will update this Cookie Policy if we change the cookies we use. The date at the top of the page shows when it was last revised.
7. Contact
